Have you got the Love Bug?

The hard rule of virus prevention was not to open email attachments from untrusted sources. However, recently the rules have failed to protect from a new breed of clever viruses. Melissa prentends that it has been sent from a friend or collegue and BubbleBoy dispenses with the need for attachments at all.

The latest headline breaking virus is the LoveLetter virus which uses the Melissa technique but much more effectively. It also has a more sinsister design. Although Melissa often brought down mail servers, it didn't intentionally cause any harm. LoveLetter hacks your computer to find passwordsa which it then sends to the virus writer's email account. This comprimises the security of your own data and that of your network/company. Get the full details about LoveLetter here.
